What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of LifeGate Fellowship based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

The Bible

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and the authoritative Word of God. It has 66 books and is our authoritative rule of faith and conduct. It is the revelation of God to humanity. (2 Tim. 3:16‐17; 2 Peter 1:20‐21).

One True God

We believe in one God who exists and reveals Himself in three persons called the Trinity. God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4; 2 Cor. 13:14; John 14:16‐17).

The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, was raised from the dead and is at the right hand of the Father as true God and true man. (Matt. 1:18‐25; Romans 9:5; Hebrews 12:2).

We further believe in His:

1. Virgin birth (Matt. 1:23; Luke 1:31,35)

2. Sinless life (Hebrews 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22)

3. His miracles (Acts 2:22, 10:38)

4. Substitutionary work on the cross (1 Cor. 15:3; 2 Cor. 5:21)

5. His bodily resurrection from the dead (Matt. 28:6; Luke 24:39; 1 Cor. 15:4)

6. His exaltation to the right hand of God (Acts 1:9, 11, 2:33; Phil. 2:9‐11; Hebrews 1:3)

The Supernatural Creation of All Things

We believe God created out of nothing the heavens and earth in six literal days and rested on the seventh day. Furthermore, we believe God created Adam and Eve through which all of humanity is related. (Gen. 1:1‐2:3, 2:18‐23).

Salvation of Humanity

We believe that all of humanity was created in the image of God but fell from that relationship with God through voluntary, willful disobedience. It is only through accepting Jesus Christ’s substitutionary sacrifice of His shed blood and death on the cross that we can be forgiven and restored to fellowship with God. We further believe that God’s salvation cannot be earned nor is it merited in any way, but is received by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. Romans 3:23, 6:23; Eph. 1:7, 2:8‐9).

The Holy Spirit

We believe at the point of salvation the Holy Spirit fills each believer and is a source of strength, assurance, and wisdom. (John 3:6‐7, 6:63). We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are available to believers and are to be used to glorify God. (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4,8, 2:1‐4, 38‐39; 1 Cor. 2:9‐14, 12:1‐12; John 16:13‐14).

Marriage and Sexuality

We believe the term “marriage” has only one meaning, and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen. 2:24; Eph. 5:31). God designed and commands sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. God also commands that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage. (Lev. 18:22‐23; Rom. 1:24‐27; 1 Cor. 6:9‐11, 6:18‐20, 7:1‐2; Heb. 13:4).

The Church

We believe the church is comprised of all those who acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Savior, and that Scripture instructs believers to regularly assemble themselves with other believers for times of worship, prayer, instruction of the Bible, fellowship, and works of service. (Acts 2:42‐47; Hebrews 10:24‐25).

Eternity

We believe in the personal and imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ, resulting in the bodily resurrection of the just into the everlasting joy of the saved, and of the unjust into the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost. (Acts 1:11; 1 Thess. 4:13‐17; 2 Cor. 5:10; Rev. 20:4‐6, 11:15).

Rapture of the Church or Blessed Hope

The resurrection of those who have died in Christ will be translated together with those who are alive to be together with the Lord forever. We believe the rapture of the church is imminent. (1 Thess. 4:16‐17; Romans 8:23; Titus 2:13; 1 Cor. 15:51‐52).

Millennial Reign of Christ

The second coming of Christ includes the rapture of the church which is our blessed hope, and followed by the visible return of Christ with His saints to reign on earth for one thousand (1,000) years. (Zech. 14:5; Matt. 24:27, 30; Rev. 1:7, 19:11‐14, 20:1‐6).

Final Judgment

There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. Whosoever is not found written in the Book of Life, together with the devil and his angels, the beast and false prophet, will be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake of fire which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. (Matt. 25:46; Mark 9:43‐48; Rev. 19:20, 20:11‐15, 21:8).
